Collaborative enquiry for second/foreign language learners

As a Research Associate, Ahmed is continuously involved in academic research on the use of technology to enhance collaborative learning.

The latest study he has been involved in, alongside Mei Lin, Anne Preston and Zhuoran Kong, Ahmed explores the use of Digital Mysteries with second/foreign language learners.

If you have a spare few minutes, the paper is an interesting read if you teach languages. While the study involves university-age students, the concept can be applied to those much younger.

Among many points, it looks at:
  • how collaborative learning apps can promote and support the thinking and linguistic skills for EFL learners
  • the role of negotiations for meaning
  • interactions between the three groups of Chinese English Language learners including thinking skills and linguistics
